X and Pearl

When X came out earlier this year, it was a competent, well-crafted tribute to ’70s slasher flicks from Ti West, but there was not much to it beyond that. It turns out the task is much greater than that one-off tale. As was knocked at the end of X, we now have a prequel, Pearl, that describes the root story of its titular bloodthirsty killer. On their own, the 2 movies each offer a heartening amount of scares and gore. But it is when you put them together that they become much more fascinating.
Talking about both of the movies, X revealed the tale of a group of young folks trying to film a porn film in a rented farmhouse before being steadily slaughtered by the murderous old couple they were leasing from. On the other hand, the movie Pearl explains how that pair got so murderous. Its ancestor pulled liberally from classic horror films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but Pearl goes in a distinct direction. It is much more like The Wizard of Oz. Only, you know, with tons of blood and guts.
I think it will be cool to watch both of these movies and discuss them! What do you think about these?
