Takeoff, a member of the rap group Migos, was fatally shot!
The rapper known as Takeoff was a subtle vocal technician and one-third of the chart-topping bunch Migos, whose singsong flow enabled defines Atlanta’s ever-evolving, rap sound, was shot and killed overnight. The incident happened outside a Houston bowling gallery, the sources said. The rapper was 28.
Chief Troy Finner of the Houston Police Department declared the rapper’s demise at a conference on Tuesday afternoon. The cops said that a 24-year-old female and a 23-year-old male were brought to local clinics with non-life-threatening wounds.
The police also said the shooting happened after a personal party had finished at 810 Billiards & Bowling, as a big group of about 40 people gathered around the front door on the 3rd level. An argument occurred and bullets were fired from at least 2 weapons, they said, leading to many people escaping.
“We have no reason to believe that he was involved in anything criminal at the time,” Chief Finner said of Takeoff.
No suspects have been charged, the sources said, and they asked that any spectators who left the scene come forward with further information.
“Sometimes the hip-hop community gets a bad name,” Chief Finner said. “I’m calling upon everybody — our hip-hop artists in Houston and around the nation — we’ve got to police ourselves. There are so many talented individuals, men, and women, in that community, who again I love and respect, and we all need to stand together and make sure no one tears down that industry.”
