Amazon has been on a roll in the recent years. The company has been growing over the years and have been launching varied kinds of products and one of the segments that it has stepped into is the TV streamers. Amazon has pushed further into the television segment with the launch of a number of new Fire TV Edition sets as well as a new Amazon Dire TV Cube, which is an upgraded version of its Alexa-enabled hands-free streaming media player which comes with the support for Dolby Vision and a lot more of impressive features to the table.

4K streaming has been the trend for many years now and most TVs, not just the 4K TVs now feature at least some form of app and streaming service support for the viewers to have a much more comfortable and enjoyable viewing experience. Amazon has recently launched two new streamers; a $30 Fire TV Stick TV Lite and an upgraded version in the name of Fire TV Stick 4K for $50.

To begin with, for those of you who are not aware of what a Fire TV Stick is exactly, it is a USB sized device that plugs into a spare HDMI port on our TV. They are used to stream audio and video content from multiple applications over the Wi-Fi connection. Anyone and everyone can use this stick, although you are offered more if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber which would allow you to watch a lot more of added programs.

The Fire TV Stick 4K is an upgrade, like I said before. It is smaller in size, faster in terms of performance and less expensive. Overall, a full package that ensures best of viewing experience. The device comes with a HDMI port at the front and a Micro-USB port for power on the side. The device comes with 8GB of internal storage for apps. It is powered by quad core MediaTek chipset with 1.7GHz CPU and Bluetooth 5. Upon comparison with the regular Fire TV Stick, the Fire TV Stick 4K comes with better options such as 4K resolution, of course, along with HDR Dolby Atmos. It uses Bluetooth 4.1.

The device supports video streaming at up to 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) as well as popular HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and HDR10+. Voice commands work through Alexa on the Fire Stick. One of the other biggest advantages of the Amazon Fire Stick 4K especially over Google Chromecast is that it functions independently, instead of acting like a bridge between the smartphone and the TV. The Fire Stick is extremely easy to setup and handle, all thanks to the voice controlled remote.

In terms of the remote, it looks like any other remote that we are used to. It’s a simple rectangular matte black plastic bar with a HDMI connector on one end and a micro USB port on one side. If it’s slightly too large to fit comfortably in a port on your TV, a short, flexible HDMI extender lets you handle it at a different angle. The second-generation remote is still a slim rectangular wand with a prominent circular navigation pad and a pinhole microphone near the top for using Alexa. It still has menu and playback controls, and now power and volume buttons join them. The Fire TV Stick 4K can directly control your TV’s power and volume, letting you jump directly into watching streaming media without picking up a second remote which doesn’t seem like something you would have troubles with, but trust me, once you get the hang of not needing the second remote, you wouldn’t want to go back to having to use the second remote after that. It currently only adjusts volume and toggles power, so you can’t navigate your TV’s menus or change inputs, but if your Fire TV Stick is the primary device you’re going to watch, it’s a very useful upgrade.

Considering the price of the device, there is no doubt that Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K is definitely one of the best streaming devices available. While many might be of the opinion that Apple TV or Apple TV 4k are much better, however one needs to see it as two counterparts and these Apple devices costs way more than what the Amazon Fire Stick 4K does.
