Poco M4 Pro: An affordable 5G phone

The Poco M series has earned a reputation in a short time for delivering some of the best budget phones on the market. Sure, these phones are often rebranded versions of Redmi devices, but you still tend to get good value for money.

  • Poco M4 Pro (4GB/64GB) EU: €229 (~$263)
  • Poco M4 Pro (6GB/128GB) EU: €249 (~$286)

The latest Poco phone is a lower mid-range offering in the sub-€250 segment, sitting above the entry-level Poco C series but below the more premium Poco F and X ranges. That means it’s in the same stacked playing field as volume-shifting devices like the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G, Oppo A54 5G, and the Realme Narzo 30 5G. And much like these devices, it’s packing 5G connectivity on a budget, too.

The device launched in Europe in 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB flavors on November 11. There’s no word yet on if the phone will reach other regular markets for Poco such as India. We also don’t have official pricing for the UK just yet.

The Poco M4 Pro is available in Power Black (tested), Poco Yellow, and Cool Blue color options and will be sold via Poco’s website, AliExpress, Goboo, and Shopee.

This successor to the Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G has a 6.6-inch 1080 x 2400 screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset, a big 5,000mAh battery, and 33W charging.

That chipset and charging speed are both an upgrade on its predecessor, as is the camera, which now includes a 50MP main snapper, an 8MP ultra-wide one, and a 16MP front-facing one.

Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G has 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual speakers, a 3.5mm headphone port, and of course 5G.

Furthermore, the aspect ratio of the Poco M4 Pro is 20:9 so that you can enjoy vivid and crystal clear visuals while watching videos, playing games, or streaming movies online..

The camera specifications of the phone are very captivating. The Poco M4 Pro comes with a Single camera setup on the rear which has 48 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP cameras so that you can capture portraits, landscapes, and more in the form of beautiful pictures. Features on the rear camera setup include Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus. On the front, the mobile features a 8 MP camera so that you can click some amazing selfies and do video chats.

Besides, the Poco M4 Pro runs Android v11 operating system and houses a decent 5000 mAh battery that lets you use it for hours on end while watching movies, listening to songs, playing games and doing other stuff without worrying about charging it frequently..

Various connectivity options on the Poco M4 Pro include WiFi — Yes, Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth — Yes, v5.0, and 5G supported by device (network not rolled-out in India), 4G (supports Indian bands), 3G, 2G. Also, the handset is a treat to use as the sensors on the Poco M4 Pro include Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer.
