One of the best Alexa-enabled Echo device- Amazon Echo Show 8!
Amazon needs no introduction. It is a very well-known company and over the past few years Amazon has been widening its horizon by stepping into other segments rather than just being an e-commerce site. And to be honest, Amazon has been doing an awesome job in it. The company has launched many devices that are fantastic fit to any smart home, and it does not limit itself to just one or two but if you happen to look into what all they have launched, if you aren’t already aware of it, you are in for a surprise I am sure.
Amazon Echo devices have been a household name since a few years now. With the change in trends and with new innovations in technology, even our homes have now become smart homes and it does not only limit to having smart cars or smartphones. Everything is turning smart and Amazon has a big role to play in it. Amongst many devices that the company has launched, the Amazon Echo Show 8 is one of them. Although this isn’t a new device per se, it totally still rules the segment in my opinion. Last year, Amazon Echo Show 8 celebrated a year of its launch, and yet you’d still find this particular device giving a strong competition to the recently launched devices.
Amazon Echo Show 8 is Amazon’s fourth Alexa-enabled smart display and it is one of the best till now. It totally stands apart from the competition it faces. The features and the specifications of this device makes it absolutely practical and totally worth it. A few things that I really like about the gadget begins with the display size. The display is the first thing we notice whenever we see a gadget or a device and if that is impressive, we can expect more from it. The Echo Show 8 offers a screen that is bigger than a phone, with sharp 1,280x800-pixel resolution and a pair of solid 2-inch speakers. There is no doubt, Show 8 borrows a few features from the Show 5 for instance, the physical camera shutter, the alarms which were pretty good to begin with in the show 5 therefore it definitely works well with the Show 8 too. Coming back to the display, there is a new feature that improves the image quality over the larger display. There is progressive scanning which means it delivers fewer visual artifacts appear on the screen.
As far as the performance of the device is concerned, it came as a pleasant surprise to me when I found out that it is powered by a MediaTek chipset at its core. Now when it comes to the aspect of reliability and efficiency, I trust MediaTek any day. Therefore, all the doubts over the performance aspect is put to bed. Coming to the sound of the device, there are two 2-inch speakers which is a little smaller than what the Show 10 offers, however, the sound quality is pretty good for a device this size and works well for basic tasks.
Talking about an Amazon device, the mention of Alexa is inevitable. Show 8 is one of the best Alexa-enabled smart display. Alexa has too become a common household name and more like a family member for many. So when you get an Alexa enabled device for the price of $130, you know it’s worth it and would be a great addition to a smart home. If you go on to compare the Show 8 with the likes of say Nest Hub, Show 8 wins thanks to the camera since Nest Hub does not offer that and while the Nest Hub Max does offer a camera, it also comes with a hefty price tag of $230. So if you are looking for a budget Alexa enabled device, you can’t go wrong with the Amazon Echo Show 8.
