The design is a follow-up to last year’s Dimensity 1000 SoC which marked the company’s return to the high-end in 2020, with a relatively solid SoC design. Dimensity 1100 is an octa-core processor with 4 Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores that delivers speed up to 2GHz and 4 Arm Cortex-A78 super cores with up to 2.6 GHz. These super cores are the latest from the house of ARM to deliver top-notch performance and support 5G connectivity with ease. With up to 16 GB of quad-channel memory and dual-channel UFS 3.1 that can provide enormous data throughput, this powerful octa-core architecture is boosted by ultra-fast memory and storage performance.

The Dimensity 1100 upgrades the Dimensity 1000 in terms of CPU configuration and camera ability, as well as coming in a new 6nm process node. The chipset however does not upgrade every aspect of their designs, as things such as the GPU configuration and the modem capabilities seem to be identical to that of the Dimensity 1000. The Dimensity 1100 SoC differ the most from its predecessor on the CPU side of things. The Dimensity 1100 is quite straightforward in that it replaces the Cortex-A77 cores with newer Cortex-A78 cores. The configuration still remains at 4 cores running at 2.6GHz (as the higher-bin Dimensity 1000+), with four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz as the little cores.

On the camera capabilities, the chipset does not change its multi-camera configurations, still being at 32+16MP, however it does increase the single-camera advertised capability up to 108MP. The chipset is manufactured on a new 6nm process node at TSMC — a design-rule compatible shrink compared to the 7nm node that was used in the Dimensity 1000. Dimensity 1100 offers enhanced 5G connectivity with both standalone and non-standalone networks. It consumes 85% less power for 5G connectivity than other chipsets.

It supports MediaTek Imagiq that provides a 5-Core ISP design to support multiple cameras and can capture images at 108MP. It uses AI and HDR-hardware to catch the Night Image as it is captured during the day with Dimensity’s fastest Night shot mode. Other features include AI Panorama Night Shot, 20% faster AI Night shot and Multi-Person, AI Segmentation, and Bokeh.

In order to add cinema-grade visual experiences to the small screen, MediaTek MiraVision improves HDR video replication. A hardware-accelerated AV1 decoding engine allows the most advanced video compression technology to be played power-efficiently.

The Dimensity 1100 is the first 5G chip to provide True Dual 5G SIM (5G SA + 5G SA). Dual 5G Standalone connectivity provides a more consistent 5G user experience with the best quality voice and video call services (VoNR) via both cellular connections. It also provides ‘5G Elevator Mode’ & ‘5G HSR Mode’ for quick recovery and faster speed.

MediaTek Dimensity 1100 is one of the two 6nm chipsets that MediaTek has recently launched as additions to the Dimensity series.

Dimensity 1100 5G SoC is also an octa-core SoC, equipped with four ARM Cortex-A78 cores with speed up to 2.6GHz and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocking a speed of up to 2GHz.

The graphics, storage and memory specifications offered by Dimensity 1100 5G SoC is the same as that of Dimensity 1200.

The resolution support is the same as Dimensity 1200, the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 5G SoC offers a refresh rate of up 144Hz.

The Dimensity 1100 5G SoC can support combo sensors of up to 32MP+16MP cameras, or a single camera sensor of up to 108MP.

The Dimensity 1100 has features like MediaTek APU 3.0 for AI computing, MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 gaming tech support, 5G call and data concurrency, multi-touch boost, ray tracing in games and AR apps.

HyperEngine 3.0 improves the entire experience of smartphone gaming with reliability characteristics of finely tuned networking, improved multi-touch response, and improved power efficiency with even greater savings in critical areas.

The Dimensity 1100 enables ultra-fast 144Hz smartphone displays that offer zero-blur visuals to provide a competitive advantage for gamers. Even non-gamers will see the faster response being beneficial to the everyday experience with notably smoother scrolling of webpages, social streams, and animations in apps.
