DC ‘Wonder Twins’ Shut Down by Warner Bros
The DC-based project, which was to have started production in the month of July, has been shut down, according to various sources.
The project was being made as a feature for the OTT platform HBO Max and had Riverdale star KJ Apa and the 1883 actress Isabel May on board to be featured in the show. Adam Sztykiel, who has worked on the script for Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming project Black Adam, drafted the Wonder Twins script.
As per the spread news, the decision to shut the project down happened various weeks ago. The leadership of Warner Bros. Discovery, the latest company mixing Discovery and Warner Bros. and now being run by CEO David Zaslav, is imposing a mandated order that DC films must now be created with a theatrical-1st objective. Wonder Twins, the way it had been started, was “too niche,” said one of the sources.
Also, It is further being said that Zaslav is mandating that films released on HBO Max have a budget of some $35 million as they do not do much to add new subscribers ( as it is said that The Batman did big for HBO Max), with it said the Wonder Twins film had a budget of $75 million.
I think many fans are going to be sad about this news. Isn’t it?
